As stated by the Federal Reserve, appraisal reviews "ought to find out whether the appraisal or evaluation is suitable for the transaction, the liability of the transaction, and whether the actions by which the collateral valuation is collected ensures independence and quality." Moreover, they "should demonstrate whether the appraisal or evaluation report is consistent with the engagement letter, which sets forth the range of the appraisal assignment." The Federal Reserve also notes that "some banks supplement typical reviews with post-funding assessments of appraisal quality for any of their high-risk or higher-value dealings as a way to assist in uncovering valuation concerns."
